Skin, the largest organ, is often neglected. Dull, dry, and dehydrated when it’s covered up all winter and exposed to the sun all summer – under loved and pushed to the limit.
With countless health benefits, body brushing is a fast and effective way to exfoliate – helping your skin absorb product faster, increase circulation, improve the appearance of cellulite, assist lymphatic drainage and improve muscle tone.
Start your morning off gently with this body brushing routine.
What is a Body Brush?
The Tibby Olivier Massage Brush is a natural exfoliator that helps to remove dead skin cells. This promotes lymph flow and circulation in the body. It works efficiently by targeting specific body areas with its bristles.
How To Use Your Body Brush
Use a firm dry brush on skin every morning before showering or bathing. This will encourage lymph drainage.
Ensure that your brush strokes are repeated, starting from your feet and moving towards your heart. To maximise the benefits of body brushing, follow each brush stroke with a gentle stroke from your free hand.
Make each stroke light and take care not to drag, irritate or redden the skin.
Body Brushing Your Legs
Start at one of your feet, brush the lower leg in upward movements towards the knee, work from the inside of the leg to the outside, and then the back of the leg.
From underneath your knee, work your way up to the inside of your thigh and then along the outside of your leg. Repeat with the other leg.
Body Brushing Your Stomach and Back
Starting from the side of your waist, brush your stomach in a downward motion toward the centre of your lower tummy. Then brush from your other side, moving across the centre of your lower stomach.
From the small of your back to the top of your shoulders, brush up as far as you can comfortably reach. Repeat for the other side.
Body Brushing Your Shoulders, Bust and Arms
Sweep the brush down from the back of the neck at your shoulders and repeat on the opposite side.
When body brushing your bust, begin at the base of the underarm and brush in a circular movement back toward the underarm. Repeat to the other breast.
From your arms, brush from the back of the hand upwards to the elbow then up to the shoulder. Bend your arm and place your hand on the opposite shoulder, then brush up the back of your upper arm. Repeat on the other arm to finish.
It is recommended that you spend at least 5 minutes body brushing, which will remove dead skin cells and impurities accumulated on your body. Follow with your choice of body moisturiser or lotion to replenish and hydrate the skin.
